Spider Vein Treatment via Sclerotherapy

spider vein treatment

Sclerotherapy is an easy and relatively straightforward spider vein treatment. The procedure is simple, and patients don’t need to take any real time off from work. Sclerotherapy is effective a solid majority of the time, making it a popular spider vein treatment.

Sclerotherapy is not a new or experimental treatment by any means. The procedure has been administered for over 80 years. Therefore, it is proven and tested and patients should not be afraid in any way to receive the treatment.

Patients will begin the process of receiving a sclerotherapy treatment by having a consultation with our professional, who will ultimately determine if the procedure is suitable for the patient. There are some factors that could make it unsuitable, but most patients are candidates for sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy is usually suitable for both cosmetic procedures, as well as medically necessary procedures to fix venous issues.

Sclerotherapy is administered through an injection directly into the patient’s vein. The injection contains a solution that causes irritation in the lining of the blood vessel. The irritation is not a side effect, but rather an intended effect. Once the irritation occurs, it causes the vessel to collapse. Once the vessel collapses, it clots and is reabsorbed into healthy tissue, and the bad vein ceases to exist.

Patients are able to walk out of our office after receiving this spider vein treatment. Patients should avoid strenuous physical activity for a set time after the procedure is administered. Gradually, patients should start to see results from the procedure.
