VOLUMA® Injections in Little Rock, AR

Dr. Lee is Happy to Bring VOLUMA to the Greater Little Rock Area!

We go through our whole lives laughing and smiling and looking to have fun. However, an unfortunate side effect of our pursuit of happiness is the wrinkles, crow’s feet and sagging skin that comes from all this emotion.

No one wants to go through their lives without smiling, so JUVÉDERM®, one of the world’s leading facial injectable makers, has created VOLUMA. VOLUMA is an FDA-approved dermal filler that restores your skin’s youthful vigor without the use of surgery or painful chemicals.

Dr. Lee is happy to provide VOLUMA to all her patients in the Little Rock, AR area and encourages them to smile and laugh as much as they can.

What Is VOLUMA?

VOLUMA is a dermal filler that is specially made to restore the volume of skin in the cheeks and around the chin. It does this using Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring enzyme in your skin that is responsible for your youthful look. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA HA formula retains water and acts like a sponge to fill in wrinkles, sunken skin and age lines.

Because JUVÉDERM VOLUMA is made of natural ingredients that complement what your body is already making, it is an FDA-approved alternative to surgeries and invasive procedures.

How VOLUMA Works in the Face

As we age, the deeper structures of the face begin to change. The cheeks lose support, the midface can flatten and the chin may look less defined. VOLUMA adds support where volume has diminished. When placed in areas like the cheeks and chin, it helps lift and contour the face while also filling in lines.

Once placed, VOLUMA blends into the surrounding tissue and supports the facial framework from within. You may notice a refreshed look right away, with continued improvement as the product settles and integrates.

Areas Treated With VOLUMA

  • Cheeks: Repeated facial movement and gradual thinning of the underlying tissue can reduce the cheek’s ability to support the midface. Filler placement in this area reinforces underlying structures that contribute to facial descent.
  • Chin and Jawline: The lower face is influenced by changes in bone density and soft tissue integrity. Addressing volume in the chin and jawline helps support areas that often become less defined as structural support diminishes.
  • Temples: Volume reduction in the temples can occur slowly over many years and is often overlooked until it becomes more noticeable. Treating this area helps replace lost structural padding that makes the face look more youthful.

Why Dr. Lee Loves VOLUMA for Cheeks and Temples

We use VOLUMA for cheeks and temples because it allows deeper placement where volume loss occurs. Its consistency works well in areas that need structural support. Using VOLUMA in these areas gives us control and predictability while allowing us to customize treatments according to each patient’s facial anatomy.
The formulation also uses Vycross® technology, which combines different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to create a smoother, more cohesive gel. This structure allows VOLUMA to stay firm while still integrating evenly within deeper facial tissue. The result is a product that maintains its shape under natural facial movement and holds up well in areas like the cheeks and temples where strength and stability matter.

Who Should Use VOLUMA®?

VOLUMA® is suitable for all skin types and colors. Good candidates are adults who are healthy, understand what injectable treatments can and cannot do and are comfortable with an option that is durable but temporary. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or experiencing active skin irritation or infection should postpone treatment. During your consultation, we review health history, medications and past injectable treatments to decide whether VOLUMA is a good fit.

How Does VOLUMA Compare to Other Dermal Fillers?

Other JUVÉDERM Fillers

The JUVÉDERM family includes several products that are formulated for different depths and uses within the face, such as JUVÉDERM ULTRA, VOLLURE® and VOLBELLA®. These options vary in thickness and flexibility and behave differently once we inject them. Other fillers may be more suitable for areas like the lips, while VOLUMA is better when we need a filler that holds its shape.

Restylane Fillers

Restylane products use a different crosslinking process that results in gels with varied firmness and spread. These fillers often feel more granular and structured, while JUVÉDERM fillers tend to feel smoother and more uniform. Neither approach is better across the board. The choice is made based on the treatment area and how much support or flexibility is needed for each concern.

Preparing for Your VOLUMA Treatment

  • Arnicare Tablets: We recommend starting Arnicare tablets two days before treatment to limit bruising and prepare your body for recovery.
  • Blood-Thinning Supplements: When approved by your doctor, avoiding supplements and medications that thin the blood can help reduce the risk of bruising. We review this during your consultation, so changes can be made safely.
  • Hydration and Skincare Prep: Arriving well hydrated supports skin quality and comfort during treatment. Patients should come to their appointment with clean skin and avoid applying makeup or heavy skincare products beforehand.

What’s the Procedure Like?

Each VOLUMA treatment is performed in the office and takes under an hour. We look at your facial structure and talk about your concerns, making note of the best placement areas as we go. In most areas, we use a blunt cannula, but in the cheeks and temples, we inject VOLUMA with a fine needle to precisely place the filler.

We use topical anesthetic numbing cream for all filler appointments, and VOLUMA also contains lidocaine, which numbs the area as we go. These two types of numbing work together to make your treatment comfortable.

What to Expect After Your Procedure

Immediately following the procedure, there may be some swelling, redness, tenderness or soreness, but these side effects are minor and should subside in less than a week. Initial swelling is more noticeable in the first 24 to 48 hours before it begins to settle.

While visible bruising is usually less severe with our techniques and use of Arnicare, it is still possible. These treatment effects are temporary and improve without intervention beyond the normal aftercare.

Aftercare for VOLUMA Injections

  • Continue Taking Arnicare: Take Arnicare for another two days after your treatment until any bruising fades.
  • Apply Ice: We recommend applying a clean ice pack or cold compress to the treated area for short intervals during the first one to two days. This helps limit swelling and keeps the area comfortable while the filler begins to settle.
  • Avoid Makeup or Lotion: Do not apply makeup, lotion or any other skincare products to the treated zone for the rest of the day and night following your injections. This reduces the risk of irritation and helps protect the skin as it begins to recover.
  • Activity Restrictions: Patients should avoid strenuous physical activity, intense heat and anything that increases blood flow to the face for the first 24 hours. Light walking is fine, but workouts, saunas and hot showers should be postponed.
  • Sleeping Positions: Try to sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for the first couple of nights. This can reduce pressure on the treated areas and help keep swelling to a minimum.

VOLUMA Results

When Will I See Results From VOLUMA?

Many patients see results right away, though initial swelling can make the area look fuller at first. This will go down, and you will be able to enjoy your final results.

How Long Do VOLUMA Results Last?

VOLUMA is one of the longest-lasting fillers in the JUVÉDERM family. In most cases, results can last up to two years in the cheeks and slightly less in other areas.

Follow-Up Appointments and Maintenance

We recommend checking in around the 9 to 12-month mark to assess how your results are holding. Maintenance treatments can help keep volume in the areas we have treated. Touch-ups are based on your goals and results rather than on a particular set schedule.

What Factors Impact the Longevity of VOLUMA?

  • Injection Depth and Placement: When the product is placed correctly along bone or in supportive fat pads, it remains more stable and resists early breakdown.
  • Facial Movement and Treatment Area: VOLUMA is formulated for durability, but motion can determine how long it lasts. Areas with more frequent movement may break down filler more quickly than relatively static areas.
  • Metabolism and Body Chemistry: People with higher metabolic rates may metabolize fillers faster. This includes those who are very active, have a high level of muscle mass, or experience frequent weight changes.
  • Skincare and Lifestyle Choices: Sun exposure, smoking and poor skincare can accelerate collagen loss and reduce filler longevity. Patients who protect their skin and maintain hydration tend to see longer-lasting results.

Frequently Asked Questions About VOLUMA

Will I look overfilled?

Looking overfilled typically results from using too much product or placing it incorrectly. Choosing an experienced injector is the best way to get results that look natural and fit well with your other facial features. Dr. Lee has injected over a thousand syringes of dermal filler. She knows how to consider the size of other features like the eyes and nose when choosing the right amount of VOLUMA to inject and uses only what is needed to create the results you want.

Is VOLUMA suitable for first-time filler patients?

VOLUMA can be a good choice for first-time patients when the treatment goal involves structural support in areas like the cheeks, chin or temples. Some patients may prefer to start with lighter fillers, but if the concern is bone loss or significant volume change, VOLUMA offers benefits that other products cannot achieve. We always walk you through the entire product selection process so you can feel comfortable with the products we are using. We often start conservatively for first-time patients and can add more later if desired.

How much product will I need?

The amount we inject is different for everyone and will depend on the areas we talk about during your consultation. One syringe can be just the right amount for certain patients, while more product can be beneficial for others. We may also place more product in some areas and less in others to correct asymmetries and give your face good balance. We will discuss all of this during your consultation, so you know what to expect.

How soon can I return to work after dermal fillers?

Most people return to work the same day or the next, depending on their comfort level with temporary swelling or redness. The treated area may feel mildly firm or tender at first, but these effects are not disruptive for most day-to-day activities. You can use makeup again the day after your injections, but you still may want to avoid products with harsh ingredients for a few days.

What is the difference between VOLUMA and Botox®?

Dermal fillers like VOLUMA use hyaluronic acid or other materials to provide volume and support under the skin. Botox is a different type of product called a neuromodulator. Neuromodulators, sometimes called neurotoxins, disrupt signals that cause muscles to move. The injections are placed so that only a small area is affected, and the reduced muscle movement causes the skin to stay flatter and less wrinkled.

The two products are used for different types of aging concerns. VOLUMA is helpful for treating lines or volume loss that stays the same even when your face is at rest. Botox is used for lines that only appear when you make facial expressions. If you have both types of concerns, we may suggest using both products to treat them.

Can men get VOLUMA treatments?

Men can also be treated with VOLUMA. They often lose volume in the same areas as women, but may benefit from different placement strategies or amounts. We take the same approach with every patient, listening to what they want from the treatment and then adjusting our plan to fit these goals. We can use small amounts of filler to enhance the shape of the cheeks or restore volume in the temples without it being obvious that any treatment was done.

How much does VOLUMA cost?

Cost for VOLUMA varies based on how much product you need and the specific areas we are treating. Treatments are priced by syringe, and the total amount is determined during your consultation after we talk about our treatment plan.
