At Doctors MedSpa in Little Rock, AR, we offer laser hair removal frequency as an effective way to get long-term hair reduction. You’ll be able to go months at a time without shaving, waxing, or plucking, and any hair you do see will be thin and easy to remove. For many people, results are even permanent.
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
Laser hair removal is generally considered to be a permanent method of hair reduction, although it is not necessarily permanent in all cases. Most people experience a permanent reduction in the number of hairs that regrow after treatment, and many people can achieve complete removal of unwanted hair.
However, it is possible for some hair to regrow, especially if hormonal changes cause new hair growth. It is also important to note that laser hair removal frequency works best on people with dark, coarse hair. Those with other hair types or colors may need more sessions to achieve their goals, but the sophisticated Soprano ICE laser we use can treat people of just about any skin tone or hair color.
About the Soprano ICE
Alma Lasers’ Soprano ICE is designed to be safe and effective for use on all skin types and is suitable for use on large areas of the body as well as smaller, more sensitive areas. The Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ treatment from Alma Lasers’ Soprano ICE is the gold standard for safe and gentle laser hair removal frequency. It is virtually pain-free and has been described as being comparable to a hot stone massage.
This treatment is faster, more comfortable, and more effective than other systems for all skin types and most hair colors. At our medspa, this treatment is performed by a trained and experienced professional and supervised by a board-certified plastic surgeon.
The Soprano ICE uses patented IN-Motion™ technology, which allows the laser to gently move over the skin to heat the hair follicles, while, at the same time, keeping the skin’s surface cool and comfortable with a DualChill™ treatment tip. This ensures complete coverage with no missed spots and enables fast treatments with no downtime. This Pain-Free, Hair-Free™ treatment has no side effects that could keep you from returning to normal activities immediately.
Preparation
There are a few things you can do to prepare for laser hair removal frequency:
Prepare your Skin
Avoid waxing, plucking, and electrolysis for at least six weeks before treatment, as these methods remove the hair from the root and can interfere with the laser’s ability to target the hair follicles. Avoid sun exposure for at least four weeks prior to treatment. Finally, shave the area to be treated the day before your appointment. This will help the laser to more easily target the hair follicles.
Communicate
Inform us of any medications you are taking, as some medications, such as Accutane and certain antibiotics, can increase the risk of side effects from laser hair removal. We can talk to you about whether you can pause certain medications before treatment.
The Day Of
Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment to make it easier for the practitioner to access the area to be treated. Follow any additional instructions we provide, such as avoiding certain skincare products or avoiding deodorant on the day of the treatment.
Caring for Skin Post-Treatment
After laser treatment, it’s important to follow our instructions for post-treatment care to ensure that your skin heals properly and looks its best. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Stay Out of the Sun
Avoid direct sun exposure for at least a few weeks after the treatment. Sun exposure can be damaging to the skin, so if you do need to be in the sun, be sure to use broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin.
Avoid Heat and Protect Your Skin
Avoid hot baths and showers, as well as saunas and steam rooms, for the first 24-48 hours after treatment. These activities can be drying and irritating to the skin, which can slow down the healing process. Avoid picking at or scratching the treated area, as this can irritate the skin and may cause scarring. If you’re feeling itchy, try using a cool, damp cloth to pat the area gently.
Avoid using exfoliating agents, such as glycolic acid or salicylic acid, for at least a week after treatment. These products can be too harsh on your skin while it’s healing. Avoid using any topical products that we have not approved. It’s best to stick with products that are safe and gentle on your skin while it’s healing.
Don’t Engage in Certain Hair Removal Methods
Avoid waxing, plucking, and electrolysis for at least a few weeks after treatment. These methods remove the hair from the root, which can interfere with the laser’s ability to target the hair follicles. You can shave as needed.
