Lip Injections: What To Expect?

Lip Injections

Lip augmentation, particularly filler gel injection treatment, is designed to give you fuller, more youthful lips. Our lips tend to thin out and become stretched, wrinkled, and rippled as we age. This is due primarily to a decrease in moisture retention as well as a loss in cushioned subdermal tissues. The result can be a tired, strained, and stern appearance. This visual sign of aging can be combated via restylane lip filler. These gels are safe to use, and the positive results last for up to a year.

Some Important Facts

Dermal fillers come in several types, the most commonly used being acid particle gels or calcium particle gels. You’ve probably heard of hyaluronic acid. This is a natural sugar substance that’s produced naturally by our bodies. We have some of it in our system, but as we age, the amount decreases. This acid attracts water molecules and holds them in place. A decrease in the amount of this acid can result in thinning lips that are far less plump than they were when we were younger.

Calcium-based filler gels contain tiny particles that add structure to the lips. These fillers act as a base upon which lip tissue binds. This can help the lips become fuller and with more natural perimeter curves. If you desire the youthful swoop shape of the upper lip that you enjoyed in your teen and young adult years, calcium hydroxylapatite fillers may be just the treatment you’ve been seeking.

Lip Injection Procedure

After we examine the lips carefully and note the most prominent areas where added volume or structural enhancement is needed, we will schedule a treatment session. The lip injection procedure is very simple and does not usually take long to perform. Plumping is typically noticeable shortly after a session.

There’s no downtime for the client once lip injection is complete. Normal activities can be resumed at once. We may sometimes schedule a secondary lip injection treatment once we’ve examined the resulting appearance.
