What Is VOLLURE?Vollure logo

VOLLURE is part of a family of fillers known as JUVÉDERM®. This collection of fillers is made from hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that attracts moisture and provides volume when injected into the skin. Hyaluronic acid is often used in fillers because of how well it blends with natural tissues and the natural-looking changes it can provide.

JUVÉDERM products use a special cross-linking technology to help the fillers move more naturally with facial expressions. VOLLURE, in particular, is known for its flexibility and spreadability under the skin, along with a lower water affinity than other formulas. These qualities make it suitable for certain lines and wrinkles and for use under the eyes.

What Does VOLLURE Treat?

Nasolabial Folds

One of the most common uses for VOLLURE is the treatment of nasolabial folds. These lines start at the base of the nose and run diagonally to the corners of the mouth. These folds become more noticeable with volume loss and collagen reduction. VOLLURE filler for wrinkles supports the skin in the area, but still moves naturally when you smile or speak.

Marionette Lines

Marionette lines start at the corners of the mouth and go toward the chin, and can create the impression of frowning during neutral facial expressions. They are influenced by repetitive movement and gravity, and are also more noticeable once collagen production decreases. VOLLURE is used in these deep lines because it provides enough structure to lift and smooth the area and reduce shadows.

Tear Troughs

Tear troughs are the hollowed areas beneath the eyes that can create shadows or make you look fatigued. Volume loss and skin thinning can contribute to this concern, and natural facial structure sometimes creates dark spots in this area. One way that we use VOLLURE at our practice is to reduce the appearance of undereye hollows.

How VOLLURE Works

During your VOLLURE treatment, we place smooth gel beneath the skin through injection. VOLLURE uses Vycross® technology, which blends different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to create a gel that is flexible and supportive. After it is injected, it integrates with the tissue around it and begins attracting water to give the skin volume and a soft texture. Precise placement and correct dosage are both important, and we adjust both during each treatment to customize the service to the patient.

Benefits of VOLLURE ®

  • No downtime
  • Immediate improvement in the treated area
  • Quick treatment sessions
  • Natural-looking results
  • Customizable treatment plans

VOLLURE vs Other JUVÉDERM Fillers

  • VOLUMA®: VOLUMA provides firm structural support and is our product of choice for the cheeks and temples, where our patients often want lift and contour. It has a thicker consistency that supports facial structures. VOLUMA is better for emphasizing shape and projection and is not as flexible as VOLLURE.
  • VOLBELLA®: VOLBELLA is a soft option for subtle enhancement. It is most frequently used in the lips and under the eyes, where the skin is thinner. The filler spreads smoothly and is less expandable than other JUVÉDERM fillers.
  • Refyne: Refyne is a filler from a family of products called Restylane®. This product is indicated for nasolabial folds and other lines and wrinkles, and we also use it for tear troughs because of its lightweight formulation and adaptability.

Can Multiple Fillers Be Used in One Treatment Plan?

Using multiple fillers in one treatment plan can be a good way to balance facial features and make sure each area has the right levels of support and flexibility. We consider all of your areas of concern and the formulations of each product to create a treatment plan that is unique to your situation. During one appointment, we can address loss of volume, wrinkles, dark circles and facial contour.

Pre-Treatment Steps and Expectations

Consultation

Injections are most effective when we carefully evaluate facial structure, movement, and areas of concern before treatment begins. Dr. Lee takes the time to talk about your goals and how VOLLURE could fit within your treatment plan. She takes every factor into consideration, including your facial anatomy and skin quality, and practices clear communication to set good expectations for the treatment and results.

Preparation Steps

Preparation at home is simple and only involves a few simple adjustments and steps. We will have you start taking Arnicare tablets two days before your treatment to help prevent bruising after your injections. We may also have you avoid certain supplements or medications. Hydration and good skincare are also helpful in the days leading up to your appointment.

The Day of Your Appointment

On the day of your appointment, please come into our office with skin that is free from any sunscreen, makeup or lotion. We will clean any remaining oil or residue from your skin and then begin your injections.

What Can I Expect During a Vollure Treatment Session?

Numbing the Skin

At our clinic, we use a topical anesthetic for all of our filler treatments to keep you from feeling any discomfort during injections. All of the filler products we use also contain lidocaine, which provides even more comfort during your treatment. We will wait after applying the numbing cream to give your skin time to respond before starting injections.

Injections

Dr. Mimi Lee uses a blunt cannula when injecting VOLLURE for smooth placement of the filler with fewer entry points. This method also reduces bruising and swelling. Dr. Lee may gently massage the skin to distribute the product, and you can expect multiple injections per treatment area for balanced results.

Appointment Length and Downtime

VOLLURE ® injection sessions typically last between 30 and 40 minutes and have little to no downtime associated with them. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately following an injection session with little to no interruption to their routine.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

Sometimes the treated areas can feel a little firm or full right after filler is injected. The area will feel softer and more natural as the formulation settles into your skin. You may also have some swelling, and the area around the injection zone may look red. Your body will adjust over the next few days, and we can answer any questions you may have about what to expect.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Arnicare Tablets: We will have you continue Arnicare tablets after injections to limit bruising and make your recovery smooth. Take them for two days after your appointment, or until any visible bruising goes away.
  • Ice: If there is swelling and tenderness, apply ice to the treated area. Protect your skin from the ice with a cloth or towel, and apply it in short intervals, repeated throughout the day as needed. Cooling the area will calm the tissue and soothe any discomfort.
  • Makeup and Facial Products: Do not apply any makeup or lotion to your face for the rest of the day after your treatment. Give your skin time to rest to reduce irritation and help it heal. The next day, use gentle products to clean and moisturize your skin.
  • Activities: We recommend avoiding any activities that involve heat or intense physical activity. Light activity like walking is fine as long as it feels comfortable. The next day, you can resume all of your normal activities.

When Will I See Results?

Immediately following your injection session, you will see a visible improvement in the treated area. The final results of this injectable dermal filler typically develop within one week of your injection session and can last for up to 18 months. Multiple injection sessions may be required in order to achieve your desired results. Results may vary from patient to patient depending on the area being treated and the severity of the aging process.

What Can Impact the Longevity of My Results?

  • Facial movement: Areas of the face that move frequently, such as around the mouth, tend to break down filler faster than areas with less motion. Smiling, talking and expressive habits all influence how long results last in these zones.
  • Individual metabolism: Everyone processes hyaluronic acid at a different rate. A faster metabolism can lead to quicker breakdown of filler, while slower metabolic activity may allow results to last longer.
  • Lifestyle factors: Regular intense exercise and frequent heat exposure can affect how quickly the body metabolizes filler. We also recommend avoiding habits like smoking that can break down fillers faster and impact the health of your skin.
  • Amount of product used: You may notice results longer if more product was used during your treatment. We talk with you during your appointment to discuss the appropriate number of units for you and your goals.

More FAQs About VOLLURE Injections in Little Rock, AR

Am I a candidate?

Men and women who are interested in reducing the appearance of nasolabial folds and other moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds may be potential patients for this injectable dermal filler. Prior to your injection session, we will review your medical history, overall health, and goals for treatment and determine if VOLLURE® is the right choice for you. If you are a candidate, we will create a customized treatment plan tailored to fit your aesthetic goals.

What are the potential side effects?

You might experience some mild bruising, tenderness, swelling, discomfort, itching, discoloration or other injection-related side effects. These are temporary side effects that typically resolve on their own within one week of your injection session.

How much VOLLURE will I need?

The amount of VOLLURE needed depends on the depth of the lines being treated and how much support the area requires. Some concerns may improve with a small amount, while deeper folds can require more product to create balance. Facial structure and symmetry are also part of this decision. We review this during your consultation so you know what to expect before your treatment begins.

How do you keep results from looking overfilled?

Avoiding an overfilled look comes down to product choice, placement, and pacing. We use VOLLURE JUVÉDERM in areas where flexibility and structure need to exist together. Filler is placed gradually and assessed as we go, which allows for adjustments during the appointment. With years of experience in injections, Dr. Lee knows how to soften lines while keeping movement and facial shape looking natural for each patient.

Can VOLLURE be dissolved?

VOLLURE is made with hyaluronic acid, which means it can be dissolved if needed. A specialized enzyme called hyaluronidase can break down the filler. Dissolving can sometimes be right for patients who have changing aesthetic goals.

What does VOLLURE feel like once settled?

Once swelling subsides and the filler integrates, VOLLURE typically feels smooth and natural to the touch. The treated area moves normally with facial expressions and does not feel stiff. Any initial firmness usually softens as the gel settles into place, and you should not notice the filler once this happens.

How often can I get dermal fillers?

Frequency depends on what you want from your treatments. Some patients come in once to get fillers for a special event like pictures or a wedding. Others come in regularly to maintain volume in treated areas. Because this filler can last up to 18 months, you can plan to come in every year and a half or a little more often to maintain your results.

How does VOLLURE compare to neuromodulators like Botox?

VOLLURE and neuromodulators such as Botox are similar in that they are injected into the face, but they have different mechanisms of action and treat different concerns. Dermal fillers are best for adding volume and treating areas where you want more structure. Botox is used for dynamic wrinkles that form when you smile or make other facial expressions. We may use both in one treatment plan if you have concerns about volume and expression lines.

Why Experience and Technique Matter With VOLLURE

JUVÉDERM VOLLURE behaves differently depending on where and how it is placed. Facial anatomy also varies from person to person, and small adjustments in depth or angle can change how the filler reacts during movement and how it softens lines or increases volume.  Technique influences how evenly the product spreads and how natural the area feels once settled. At our practice, you will have the benefit of working directly with a skilled doctor who has years of experience in injections and personalizing them for each patient.
