What is Juvederm?

Juvederm little rock

Since 2006, Juvederm® has been helping millions of people feel younger every time they look in the mirror or pose for a photograph. Juvederm® is a specialty brand of dermal fillers that help wrinkles and deep skin folds virtually disappear. Like all dermal fillers, this treatment is applied using non-surgical interventions in outpatient procedures. Its strength and effectiveness make it a handy tool for not only cosmetic procedures but for inpatient plastic surgery procedures as well.

The Federal Drug Administration first approved Juvederm® for the treatment of small lines in the face around the nose and mouth. This is a popular facial area targeted during cosmetic procedures. The product is also versatile enough to be used to provide long-term plumping of thin lips and fill in the deep valleys caused by acne scars.

The serum itself was synthesized using Hylacross technology. Hyaluronic acid is the primary ingredient and is a sugar naturally produced by the human body. Hyaluronic acid is able to absorb up to 1,000 times its own weight in water. It encourages water to rush to the injection site in order to make the skin smooth and plump, thereby eradicating the crevices that create wrinkles. The hyaluronic acid stimulates this water and other nutrients to remain in areas that haven’t had the same naturally-occurring moisturization in a long time. Since the substances inside Juvederm® bond with the body’s own chemicals, the initial results will last up to an entire year before follow-up injections will be needed.

A recent clinical trial of the treatment’s effectiveness was conducted in the United States. Researchers found that after 24 weeks of initial treatment, the 146 patients surveyed were 88%-90% satisfied with their results. Approximately 70% of first-time Juvederm® patients went on to have secondary injections done at the recommendation of their physician. Less than 30% of patients experienced temporary facial itching, which is easily treated with moisturizer.

Juvederm® patients can reduce the chances of side effects by following our specialist’s instructions. This extra care will provide the skin with a safe environment to heal and thrive. Before you receive your injections, we will give you all the information you need concerning what to expect with your injections.
