VenaSeal™ is a new treatment option to treat varicose veins at their source (commonly the saphenous vein). This procedure is designed to minimize patient discomfort. The vein is sealed by medical adhesive instead of thermal heat energy as in the Venefit/ClosureFast or Laser procedure. Cyanoacrylate adhesive is the medical glue that’s been widely used in the sealing arterial-venous malformation in the brain and in wound closure since 1950’s with proven safety. Dr. Lee is the first physician to offer the VenaSeal™ procedure in Little Rock.
Unique features of VenaSeal™ Procedure :
- Procedure only requires one numbed entry spot and eliminates need for additional anesthesia needle sticks
- No risk of thermal injury of skin or nerve, allowing more treatment option to below the knee
- No compression stockings needed after treatment (although some may still benefit from its use)
- Rapid return to normal activities
Dr. Lee starts by numbing the entry spot to the vein. Then, she inserts a tiny proprietary “no-stick” catheter gently into the saphenous vein and deliver the medical glue to seal the vein. The blood is automatically rerouted to healthy veins.
What are the results?
After the procedure, Dr. Lee covers the area with an ACE bandage that is left on overnight. You can start walking shortly after treatment, and most patients report varicose-vein symptom relief soon after the procedure. You will return in a few days for a post-op visit and ultrasound. Your final visit will be 2 months later to determine complete response from procedure. Call now to learn more – 501.588.3143 – or schedule an appointment.
